Myrtle Beach......The Coldest Winter in 40 years

So we went to Myrtle Beach, SC the first week of March. This was the first trip for Boy 1 and Boy 2 on an airplane. Needless to say Carey and I were very nervous. How would they act, would we be able to carry all our stuff through an airport, how many crying fits, would we get kicked of the plane for having kids you read about!! Oh the stress.
Now every time I have flown, the airlines always allowed those that need special assistance and those with children to board early............well not Delta. Here we are with a stroller, 2 car seats, a diaper bag, 2 small children and we made it very clear that we would like to board early, well they never acknowledged us. So, we were nearly last on our first leg of the trip, I am trying to load 2 car seats for the boys, we find Carey isn't even in the same row as the boys and I due to off set rows and Max starts a meltdown. He had been scared of how loud planes are and decided he didn't want to go. I am dripping sweat hooking these car seats up, Max is on the floor crying and Carey can't get the bags in the overhead. Everyone is waiting on us...........oh great!!! Thankfully I got the seats in quickly, another father saw our struggles and helped Carey load the bags and well Max, he's tiny and I held him down while I strapped him in. His crying almost stopped immediately. So we have a layover in Atlanta, that went well, but again we never got to board early, but this was a much smaller plane and it went o.k. The boys loved flying they behaved very well after that initial meltdown.
Now when we made reservations for Myrtle Beach last fall we had seen the average high was 68 degrees, well as we have seen the weather in the south this year this was not the case. Our highest temperature the entire week was 58 and windy. A porter at the airport told us that this was their coldest winter in 40 years. Well at least we weren't at work.

This trip went by in a blur, it felt as though it was only 2-3 days not a week. I guess that's how vacations will be with kids for awhile.

We visited the South Carolina Aquarium while we visited Charleston for 2 days. The boys had a great time watching the penguins, driving a remote control submarine, playing on a crab boat. This was a much better aquarium than the one in Boston. They had sections that covered the various marine life in South Carolina and different thing you will see in the outdoors of South Carolina. Charleston is a picture perfect southern city, I can't wait to go back and do more. We were able to take horse and buggy ride around the city and learn about the history. Next time we will visit when the boys are older and we can spend some time visiting Civil War sites.
